A school without student organizations could operate normally. The existence of a student body solely lies in the support and trust of its members. 第四句用了idiom，lies in也就是取决于的意思，非常值得记住。

A trustworthy leader, even if being short in skills, could still manage the organization if the students believe in him. 第五句用了even if做假设的插入语，和句子的主语做对比。

On the contrary, should a shrewd and devious man be elected, the organization could falter in any second. 第六句用了should做假设的倒装结构，避免了if的重复使用。

I may cite a bitter memory to support my argument. A few years ago, when I was studying abroad, I witnessed how a college senior ran a campaign to be the president of an influential student body. 第八句用了两个从句，一个从句when给出时间，一个是从句how做主句I witnessed的补语。这个地方需要记住，虽然how独立给出的时候是一个疑问句，助动词do需要提前倒装，但如果是像此处一样embed在一个主句里，那么就不在使用助动词do了，而是按正常语序写出。

Not only did she bribe contacts in public offices in which powerful people worked that should remain impartial, she also made inappropriate promises to the members of her shadow cabinet, some of whom were not fit for their jobs. 第九句首先是用了conjunction，not only…but also…结构；其次在not only句中用了in which结构强调contacts in public offices和从句that修饰people；而在but also句中，用了宾格whom结构修饰members。

Many good men left after she assumed the office. Some of her ministers behaved exactly as the skeptics feared. 第十句用了exactly as结构在ministers behaved和skeptics feared做比较，注意是动作比动作，前后都有动词；skeptics是怀疑论者的意思。

Fortunately, she only stayed in the office for a year, nonetheless, it took years for the organization to recover from the damage. 最后一句用了nonetheless做比较。 

Secondly, only an honest leader could promote the development of the organization in the long term. 观点句把形容词only提前，强调an honest leader。

Why do students want to join associations governed by themselves? 第二句是疑问句，这里是一个单独疑问句，因此注意助动词do倒装提前。

A superficial answer is that students think the organizations will organize activities and programs enriching their lives so that the leaders must be potent at managerial ability. 这句使用了so that结构，so that起递进作用，后句是前句的结果。

However, an established student body is responsible for another task with more significant implications, looking after students’ interests within and outside the schools. 这句使用了现代分词looking after做递进，给出another task的内容是什么。（与上句一样，同样是递进，但是采用了不同的结构）

Compared to adults, young students are inexperienced and vulnerable while they begin to get in touch with the real world. 这句使用了compared to的结构，同样注意名词比名词。

It is not uncommon to hear stories in which shameful businesses took advantage of students’ naivety. 这句使用了idiom，take advantage someone’s benefit，利用某人。

A leader of integrity, however, will protect the members of his organization by both providing a reliable proxy for their needs and offering legal assistance to redress the wrong done to them. 这句使用了conjunction，both。注意both的平行，both后面第一个词是现代分词，那么and后面同样要使用现代分词，既offering，而不是by offering。Proxy是代理的意思，redress是补救措施的意思。积累词汇，才能丰富使用。

The former vice-president of a large public university’s Chinese Students Association in the United States is a friend. He once told me his Association compiled a list of sound local businesses for the new students so that international students new to the country could shop with ease. 这句用了idiom，new to the country初来乍到；with ease轻松的，放心的。

He also maintained a good rapport with the university’s Legal Advice Centre, also run by students, to provide legal support for his students. 这句使用了插入语，also run by students，修饰Legal Advice Center。使用了词组good rapport而不是good relationship，提升词汇复杂度。

Is he the most competent student leader in that university? Maybe not, but every new student will join his association because of its reputation. 最后一句使用了疑问句is，注意is疑问句必须有回答。
